PIER INSPECTIONS | There are two types of construction-phase pier inspections. A pier pre-pour inspection is performed after the piers holes have been excavated, prior to concrete placement, to verify the pier locations, pier size and depth, and pier steel reinforcement are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. A pier as-pour inspection is performed during concrete placement to verify the pier steel reinforcement, concrete mix, concrete slump, and concrete placement is in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.

SHELL INSPECTIONS | A pool shell pre-pour inspection is performed prior to shotcrete (gunite) placement to verify shell thickness and reinforcement installation are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.

SUB-GRADE DRAIN INSPECTIONS | A sub-grade drain inspection for a pool is similar to a typical drain inspection, except the drain system is installed after the pool has been excavated, prior to the installation of void cartons, steel reinforcement, or shotcrete (gunite). Typically, the sub-grade pool drain is recessed into the cove where the pool wall meets the pool floor. The first inspection is a pre-backfill drain inspection performed after the cove has been excavated, the geo-synthetic filter fabric placed, and the drain pipe installed. The purpose of this inspection is to observe the exposed drain system to verify the drain dimensions, geo-synthetic filter fabric, and drain pipe are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. The second inspection is a post-backfill drain inspection performed after the drain system has been backfilled with the specified filter drain material and enclosed in geo-synthetic filter fabric, prior to concealing drain system. The purpose of this inspection is to observe the enclosed drain system to verify the drain dimensions, filter drain material, and geo-synthetic filter fabric are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.
