PIER INSPECTIONS | There are two types of construction-phase pier inspections. A pier pre-pour inspection is performed after the piers holes have been excavated, prior to concrete placement, to verify the pier locations, pier size and depth, and pier steel reinforcement are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. A pier as-pour inspection is performed during concrete placement to verify the pier steel reinforcement, concrete mix, concrete slump, and concrete placement is in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.
FOOTING INSPECTIONS | A footing inspection is performed on the foundation of an ancillary structure such as a column or retaining wall, prior to concrete placement, to verify the footing dimensions and reinforcement installation are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.
WALL INSPECTIONS | A wall inspection for a concrete retaining wall or basement wall is performed prior to concrete placement to verify wall dimensions and steel reinforcement are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. A wall inspection for a C.M.U. retaining wall or basement wall is performed during construction to verify C.M.U. dimensions and C.M.U. reinforcement are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. A wall inspection for a gravity-stone retaining wall is performed after the wall has been constructed, prior to backfilling, to verify the wall dimensions are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.
DRAIN INSPECTIONS | A drain inspection is a two-part inspection of the drainage system commonly specified with the design of basements, sunken grottos, and retaining walls. The first inspection is a pre-backfill drain inspection performed after the structure has been constructed, prior to backfilling. The purpose of this inspection is to observe the exposed drain system to verify the drain dimensions, geo-synthetic filter fabric, and drain pipe are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications. The second inspection is a post-backfill drain inspection performed after the drain system has been backfilled with the specified filter drain material and enclosed in geo-synthetic filter fabric, prior to backfilling native soil over the drain system. The purpose of this inspection is to observe the enclosed drain system to verify the drain dimensions, filter drain material, and geo-synthetic filter fabric are in accordance with the engineered plans and specifications.
